In autumn 2011 there will start an international EU-project about Inclusive Sports in school. Teachers and students from forms from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Luxembourg participate in that project.
It has the title ARATIS schoolsport-project - Awareness, Respect, Action and Tolerance by Inclusive Sports.

NEW WEBSITE: www.aratis-project.eu

Its aim is to activate cultural and pedagogical processes in order to enable pupils to understand the variety of a heterogen group being represented by a school class. By means of regular Inclusive Sport lessons and by attending Inclusive Sport events the specific awareness of the value of each individuum should arise within pupils with and without disabilities, and should motivate a large number of regular students to get involved as a partner and/or as a volunteer. The program also supports teachers exchange to develop new pedagogy and integration strategies.

The heterogenity of an inclusive group aims at being a means of personal growth, at supplying occaions of confrontation and identification, at facilitating understanding and the comprehension of interpersonal differences.

The ARATIS schoolsport-project includes participation in Unified Sport tournaments and inclusive sports events organised by the participating schools (tournaments of football, basketball, athletics, golf, swimming, skiing, etc.).

The key product of that project will be a booklet of "Best practices of Inclusive Sport". Using an internet based communication and exchange we will also work on a filmed documentary about the tournaments events and examples of Inclusive Sport teachings.

A research study will investigate how the project activities have contributed to the nuture of a moral and civic fit for a European citizen. The mobilities will be used to participate in the Inclusive Sport tournaments, to disseminate the already finished activities, to get acquainted with the organization of the educational system in other partner schools, and to make common evaluation activities.
